Introduction

Numit Kappa is adapted from the medieval Indian legend of the same name, meaning “shooting the sun”, written in the 13th century and once known as “The Bible for the emperor”, and is being directed by the renowned Indian director Chongtham Jayanta Meetei. In Numit Kappa , with the oriental theatre vocabulary and the unique body languages, the director uses images full of metaphors to present the story of two rulers tyrannizing the world like two suns shining alternately one after another. Under the mythical and poetic skin of Numit Kappa , it is a modern fable which deals with class oppression and struggle in society.
