NSO馬勒系列 開季音樂會－馬勒第五

Symphony No.5 is the most popular of Mahler's symphonies, with its fourth chapter especially so, after being used in Death in Venice, a film in the 1970s. In the mind of Conductor Shao-Chia Lü, the symphony is both evolutionary and modern, hence the ideal piece to

begin the new season of NSO. Also in this performance, NSO presents the latest piece by Uen Wang Hwang, Diptych of Taiwan. She turns her own watercolor paintings of Guanyin Mountain and the march of Matzu Goddess into musical notes. Bringing Chinese instruments such as er-hu and zheng, a colorful diptych of Taiwan is vividly displayed with both western and Chinese sounds.
