Langod---The Tsunami
2009/09/18~2009/09/20
Introduction
In Taiwanese aboriginal mythology, the story of "Tsunami" has numerous versions. This year, the Formosa Aboriginal Song and Dance Troupe stages the Tabalong Community's rendition in theatrical form at the National Experimental Theatre. Well-considered adaptations with regards to the "black box" have been made to bring this remarkable performance onstage. The story begins with Keseng and Madapidap, the primogenitors of the Tabalong community who live in the ancient land of Panapanayang by the sea. One day, their youngest daughter Diamacan, who has a glowing body, is seen by Kariwasan, the son of the ocean god. Kariwasan falls in love with Diamacan and vows to have her. The tsunami becomes his desperate means to get the glowing girl.
