Noism was founded in 2004 by its present artistic director Jo Kanamori, who was trained at the Rudra Béjart School and has danced for European dance companies such as Nederlands Dans Theater II, the Ballet de L'Opera de Lyon and Gothenburg Ballet. His ample overseas experience has enriched the company's creative edge, making its euro-flavoured works some of the best-loved contemporary dance pieces in Japan, and winning it plenty of international recognition. Nina shows how the fictional character, with her objectified feminine body, challenges the manipulator in an existentialist tug of war onstage where men-in-suits manipulate five female bodies as if they were puppets. Beware, with revolved rigour and fanaticism, Nina is to wage war against the world and its omnipresent controlling clutches.
