臺北市立交響樂團—〈弄臣〉怎麼啦?...

Verdi: Rigoletto
2010/09/03~2010/09/05
Introduction
Why can the womanizing Duke of Mantua dare to sing out loud "La Donna e Mobile" (women are changeable) and think that women are whimsical? How can the Duke, however detested by courtiers, be thought to be as cute as Apollo by young girls? And, for what reason does the jester, who always wears a smile and humiliates others for the Duke's amusement, yell angrily at the courtiers, calling them the "vile cursed race"?
Composed by Guiseppi Verdi, the sensational opera Rigoletto is woven with love and hatred, laughers and tears. Verdi depicted the ridiculous side of life in the palace court, mocking at the unexpectedness and helplessness in the mundane world. It is a story is mainly about the young playboy Duke, the jester of the court, and the jester's beautiful daughter. The Duke is caught in dilemma, feeling troubled about which woman to pick. The naive girl, smitten by the Duke, swears to be a faithful lover to the Duke, which puts her father into hardship. Then there are an assassin and his lovely accomplice sister. Resentful courtiers, excitement-happy crowd, a band of people who like meddling in others' business. Romance and betrayal. Enticement and sincerity. A story of love and family then unfolds.
Rigoletto, one of Verdi's three masterpieces with a string of unexpected events no less complicated than the plot of a long-running TV soap opera, will be staged by the TSO in Taipei. Take away the tabloid stuff, turn off the TV, and come to the theatre for the TSO's annual operatic production— Rigoletto.
