Zheng He embarked on grand voyages for seven times and it was said to be close one century earlier than Colombus of Spain. His legendary voyages had undergone unprecedented cultural exchanges and his gigantic fleets had trailed across the globe leaving an oceanic legacy. 1433-The Grand Voyage chose to focus on Zheng He’s wondrous seventh voyage and reveals the ordeals and tears behind the legend. Robert Wilson, called a towering figure in the world of experimental theater by the New York Times, joins hands with the U Theatre of Taiwan, one of the top performing arts groups in Taiwan, to create this cross-cultural epic work. This production has been in preparation for over three years and is the fourth flagship production from TPAC, the Taiwan Performing Arts Center (newly assumed English name for Chiang Kai-shek Cultural Center).
