NSO音樂學苑—舒曼與布拉姆斯的室內樂精選

NSO Lecture Series — Brahms Chamber Music
2010/05/07
Introduction
"What constitutes the romantic essence of Germanic music?" This thought has brought on Chu-Wey Liu's detailed lecture to the chamber works by Robert Schumann and Johannes Brahms. Music has always had many faces, from the loudness of sounds and number of instruments, to the values of tone color… yet the true quality and meaning of any piece of music is to be found beyond these measurable features. Schumann's music has a lyrical and often nervously enigmatic quality, while Brahms' tends to break out with a sense of deeply harbored dignity and romanticism. With styles so definitively unlike each other, they still have the same roots, and are both great forces behind the musical progress of a century's Germanic romanticism.
