Introduction
At the world premiere of Book of Longing in 2007, critics and audience were overwhelmed by this exceptional production, in which the giant of mi-nimalism music Philip Glass and the Canadian poet-singer Leonard Cohen interwove literature, imagery and music with genius. Known as a poet, singer, painter, novelist, and lyricist, Cohen is a prestigious figure around the world, and is called“Lord Byron of Rock-and-Roll.”On the other hand, Glass’ works encompass various art forms, including symphony, theatre, opera and dance. Book of Longing was named after Cohen’s collection of poems published in 2006, and the music in the performance was composed by Glass.
