Hsiao Hsi Yuan proffers four traditional episodes, inviting the audience for a tour in the world of puppetry. In Heaven Ripple Pavilion, Prince Ba Xien defeats sycophants, admonishing the emperor and saving the loyal officials. In the second session, Admonition in an Old Citadel, guarding the queen in escape, Guan Yu kills the traitor Tsai Yang and reprimands his sworn brother Zhang Fei. Jou Chu Eradicates Three Evils is the third story, about a brave man who not only crushes monsters but also repents of his own rascality. Lastly, Smash Down the Rank tells how the warrior Qin Shubao alone rivals a whole troop and breaks the formation only with his sword.
