Masters & NSO - From Beethoven to Bruckn
2009/05/24
Introduction
Beethoven potently establishes the exquisiteness of orchestral music, while Bruckner represents visionary radicalism that breaks from such exquisiteness. They are both significant forces pushing toward the pinnacle of Austro-German music. Beethoven's Piano Concerto No.4 in G Major is rich with wildly romantic and ingenious intentions. His music was once raved as the “Alpha and Omega of music” by the new generation French pianist François Frédéric Guy, who interprets it with unconventional novelty. Bruckner's symphony, intended to express heavenly serenity, is deeply influenced by Wagnerian harmonies and consequently produces an alternative musical romanticism with enormous composition.
