The National Theater has traditional Chinese Ming and Qing like architecture, featuring a hipped roof similar to buildings seen in the Forbidden City in Beijing. The theatre has four floors with a total of 1524 seats which are located close to the theater's stage so that audiences may have better viewing. Located in front of the stage is the orchestra pit which can place 70 people or act as an extension for the stage or for two extra rows of seating for the audience. Aside from the main stage there is a back stage, a rotation stage, and side stages. The main stage surface is composed of four lifting platforms, each one made with 6 1mx1m trap holes that can be individually or simultaneously opened. The back stage can store a rotation stage, that is 13 meters in diameter and can rotate 360 degrees, and can also sit flat on the main stage as the stage's surface.
There are 53 boom cranes that can be used to set up lights or stage settings. They can be controlled manually or by a computer, with the manual ones making up 19 that can lift materials up to 300KG with 34 computer-controlled ones that can lift the same amount. The back stage and side stage have its own suspension system and there are 585 lighting circuits for performance along with lighting towers located there as well. Viewers will also a notice a large crystal lighting display inside, making it a spectatcular place for performances.

National Concert Hall
The National Theater also has traditional Chinese Ming and Qing like architecture, featuring a hipped roof similar to buildings seen in the Forbidden City in Beijing. There are 2066 seats in the hall that are divided amongst three floors. It has reverb control at 1.7 to 2.1 seconds in accordance with international standards, and the walls and floor surrounding the audience are made in a smooth design in order to let sounds project naturally and absorb reverb. Wherever one sits can hear sounds coming from the stage naturally rather than through a microphone. There are 16 electric platforms that are controlled electronically either individually or together in order to suit various types of groups such as symphony orchestras, choral groups as well as many others. The stage can accommodate 150-200 people. There is a magnificent organ made from Flentrop that makes the hall even more special. It is 14m long, 9 meters high and 3 meters deep, with a total of 4172 pipes. The longest tube is nearly 5 meters high, where the shortest is only 15 cm, the thickest has a diameter of 30 cm, and the smallest is only 1 cm. The pipes are made from both metal and wood, and between manufacturing, shipping and installation, the organ took nearly two years to complete.

Experimental Theater
Also known as the "black box", the Experimental Theater is located in the National Theater on the third floor and can accommodate 180-242 people. It is the first theater in Asia to feature a tension cable roof woven by many cables and can withstand 20 people who are 75 kg or less suspending in any place. In recent years, NTCH has held arts festivals and has invited various avant-garde groups from abroad to perform.
The theater went under renovation in 2007 to improve the stage's front space and backstage dressing rooms. Bright colors were added to make it look more modern and energetic, making it an excellent venue for arts performances.

Recital Hall
The Recital Hall is located on B1 of the Concert Hall and can accommodate up to 363 people. The auditorium holds small performances such as recitals and chamber music along with lectures and workshops. It is the most exquisite performance area at the music hall and also the best place for Taiwan's contemporary artists to perform. The Cleveland Orchestra even played a free show there since the group enjoyed the atmosphere so much.

Plaza
Conductor of the Vienna Philharmonic, Seiji Ozawa, said "I've never seen so many outdoor concerts!
The hall sports a 60,000 seating area and has a total of four areas: the Arts Plaza (Main plaza), the Life Plaza Theater, the Terrace Concert Hall, and the Terrace. Aside from holding performances in the area, there are also services related to events outside the plaza and two halls, such as Plaza Arts Festival, broadcasts of well-known symphony orchestras, and dance groups such as Cloud Gate Dance Theatre.
