NTCH PERFORMANCE ART LIBRARY

Introduction

Originally a subsection of the Department of Planning of the NTCH, the National Chiang Kai-Shek Cultural Center’s Library was tasked to run independently on October 1, 1991. The Interim Organization Regulations for the National Chiang Kai-Shek Cultural Center became effective on December 12, 1992. The library was formally listed as one part of the organization of the National Chiang Kai-Shek Cultural Center and began its service in the March of 1993. It was renamed as the Performing Arts Library in January of 2006.

With the goal of establishing a professional information center for performing arts, the library collects various data related to music, drama, dance, theatre, venue management, and more, including special collections of posters, programs, videos, and DVDs of performances hosted by NTCH. In addition, the Library acquired the audio-visual music collection bequeathed by the late music critic Mr. Yeong-Kun Tsao in 2009. More than seventy thousand classic LPs and CDs were put on file, which attains more diversity for our collection.

The library also builds up several digital databases for public use online, such as the “Index of Performing Artists,” “Catalog of Performing Arts Journals”, “Database of Art News Clippings”, “Digital Archive of NTCH”, which includes digital posters, stage photos, programs, audio-videos, e-publications of PAR and annuals, as well as the “Database of Programs and Exhibitions”.
